4.5 Messaging: Sending and Receiving E-mail

Synchronizing E-mail Messages

E-mail messages can be synchronized as part of the general synchronization

he mail folders of Exchange or Outlook on your

desktop computer to the ActiveSync folder in Inbox on your Pocket PC.

z Email messages in the Outbox folder on your Pocket PC are transferred to

Exchange or Outlook and then sent from those programs.

z The messages on the two computers are linked. When you delete a message

on your Pocket PC, it is deleted from your desktop computer the next time

you synchronize.

Connecting Directly to an E-mail Server

You can send and receive email messages by connecting to a POP3 or IMAP4

e-mail server if you can connect to your ISP or local area network. (For

information on connection, see Section 6.1.)

You can use multiple email services to receive your messages. For each email

service you intend to use, first set up and name the email service.
